BOND PLANNING WEBSITE
Welcome! Thank you for your interest in the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD bond election planned for May 8, 2010. The information on this website is intended to serve as a tool for members of the GCISD community during the process.
During the past four years, GCISD has positively impacted every District school and facility through a bond program that voters approved on September 5, 2005. The program addressed critical needs in several areas, and was delivered under budget and with a smaller impact on taxpayers than originally proposed. Please visit our 2005 Bond Report Card for a summary of projects completed in the program.
Currently, the District is faced with accommodating our changing student population, implementing the latest technology, providing upgraded safety and security measures, and performing important facility maintenance. On February 23, 2009, the GCISD Board of Trustees requested the Administration and citizens to prepare a bond package proposal for consideration. A 52-member Bond Planning Committee (BPC) began meeting in August. The members represent various aspects of the District in terms of geography, age, ethnicity, parents and non-parents, business leaders and employees. Each member has generously pledged to commit numerous hours of personal time over a period of several months to prepare a bond package for the Board's consideration in February 2010. Duties of the BPC include:
- Conducting a thorough review of the community telephone survey conducted in July 2009 that addressed a potential bond program;
- Analyzing information regarding District facilities, and educational and technical standards;
- Researching student population trends and growth/changes within the community; and,
- Considering the financial impact of a bond election to citizens
My personal goal is to ensure that the community is kept informed about all aspects of the bond referendum so that voters can make an informed voting choice. A GCISD bond election will affect our entire community, and citizen understanding, participation, and support are invaluable to the process and outcome.
The BPC website contains information regarding the BPC committee membership, schedule of meetings, meeting agenda and minutes, as well as other important information regarding the bond referendum. Please check back frequently for updates and new information.
Sincerely,

Dr. Kay Waggoner
